3 H’s When Grieving
Approaching the HOLIDAYS…Is it Fa LA LA LA LA? or OH NO here we go!?
Will this ache ever end?
Please leave never ending pain
Every moment it begins again
The fog that covers my brow is thick
Could I just escape from this…quick?
Barely able to find a way to process and cope
Striving for elements of fresh peace and hope
The only chance for rescue or salvation???
Feels to be direct and honest conversation…
Oftentimes throughout the years of working with students and families…an inevitable/unexpected death (person or pet), a diagnosis, a declining loved one, a car accident, a divorce, a life change impacting a home and heart…many other scenarios where grief gripped, sorrow surrounded, and hard times happened…People matter, hearts are a priority, but what is one to do when permeated by an unmovable moment of sadness? How do we move from here to there when surrounded by GRIEF…unwelcome, unplanned, very confusing distress…grief.
Background knowledge and experience matters. For better or worse, they offer a basis to work from…While an attitude of gratitude is a noble purpose, it is just not realistic in so many scenarios… given the upcoming holiday season…I propose we take an opportunity to learn and explore more…about how to navigate the unexpected moments and scenarios of grief in life, be they massive or seemingly small.
In all honesty, there are components of grief that are uneasy to navigate. Are you willing to keep trying? Let’s grow forward desirous of a solution to apply toward many possible issues at hand.
Whether you feel incredibly heavy, helpless, or lack hope… perhaps unequipped or underprepared to be a part of impacting a needed solution…give the following a try…
How might you apply the framework of the 3 H’s to your life?
Offer your insight it may help someone else work through strife…
Be sure to post and share your thoughts…
